This week the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee approved a bill under which for messages that contain threats, harassment, obscenity or sent through cellular phones or other mobile devices, the sender will have their administrative responsibilities.
Some committee members believe that this bill, registered under number HB 4207, will close the gap that has formed in the existing legislation regarding the development of cellular technology.
Currently, U.S. law defines the responsibility for sending the message of aggressive wing using the computer and do not contain references to the possibility of using cell phones or other mobile devices.
Under the Bill, the owner of a mobile device that has sent a text message, photo or video, harassing or abusive recipient, may be punished by a fine of $500. In the case of three or more attempts mandrel such messages fine increases to $5000.
Supporters of the law argue that it can protect children from kiberpresledovaniya. Now the bill was debated in the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, after which the document under consideration by the Senate.
